Upgraded to Service Pack 3.
Same problem as before with the CPREINSTALLDRIVER.EXE crashing.

I got an email saying I had a response, but I do not see a new post.
Did you respond? If so, I can't see it.

Well, the installation program went through with out a hitch.
But, it doesn't look like the drivers were installed.
I still get the original error of the USB device unrecognized and not working properly.
And the Dataq Hardware Manager can't find my device.

I don't see the Dataq com port in Windows Device Manager.

What next?

It seems we solved one problem, the software ran. The problem is the missing C-runtime library in your XP, all preinstalled XP-SP3 will have the correct one, but an upgrade may not bring it in, which you can find it here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

1)Do you have a stand-alone 710? If so, make sure you use the wall power. The power from USB port may not be enough to power 710
2)Is there anything showing up under Windows Device Manager? If so, such as others, try to update the driver, the 710 USB drivers is in c:\dataq\drivers
3)If you have another PC, please try it there

I tried another computer running Windows 2000 and it loaded the drivers fine.
Went back to the XP Pro box and found that out of my 6 USB Ports I was plugged into the only faulty one.

I changed ports and it recognized it and loaded the drivers fine.
Now, when I run Windaq, it runs for about 30 seconds or so and locks up. No scrolling or updating.
I close Windaq and go back to Hardware Manager and now it can't find the unit till I reboot.
I have the Red and Green led blinking. Red light on with Green light blinking about once a second.

Any Ideas ?

Is this a stand-alone device? (meaning it has the SD slot). If so, you must use the wall charger all the time

BTW, what is the manufacture date of the unit?

This is not a stand alone device. No power port or SD slot.
The manufacture Date is May 2006.
Model DI710-UH / SN# 44734FF5

Do you see the lockup even when there is nothing connected to 710's front end?

Any EMI source around?

I will try another USB cable.

Nothing at all connected.
I have it in the office on the workbench, so should not be any EMF.
I will try another cable and get back to you.

I cleaned the USB connector on the DI-710, replaced the cable and shut down the computer.
Powered back up and everything seems to be working fine now.

I am going to let it run over the weekend to see.

Thanks for your help!

The USB connector can wear out. If it is very loose, you will need to replace it
